As a sewing instructor and sewing machine technician I am frequently asked for recommendations on sewing machines for both beginner and advanced users. The machines listed below are a few of my favorites, in a range of prices, based on my experience with how well they perform, reliability, and features.

Beginner & Intermediate

Sewing machines for beginners to learn on and build their skills, and intermediate users who want more features.
Digital Sewing Machines

This first set is digital sewing machines that come with a wide range of stitches, functions and also have speed control. Speed control can be beneficial for beginners who haven't yet mastered controlling the speed with the foot pedal, or when you're working on projects that require a consistent, slower speed.

Mechanical Sewing Machines

This second set of beginner and intermedite sewing machines is all mechanical for when you don't need the features of digital machines and can sometimes be found at a lower price.
